Saturday, Oct. 27 was a cool, slightly rainy morning to start the WIAA state cross country meet. Senior Henry Wellenstein, a three time state qualifier, competed in his last high school race. Wellenstein finished the race in 16:04.6, earning 12th place, just two spots away from a podium finish. As a sophomore he finished in 69th place and his junior year, which the team qualified, he finished 44th overall.
On the girls side, senior Elsa Klein, had her first state meet competition. On the tough finish course, she earned 78th place, with a time of 20:11.1 She finished in the first half of the field, as both Division I groups had 190 runners each.
