ATHLETES OF THE MONTH – Raebel & Roberts
At the end of each month, the head varsity coaches of teams that are competing will nominate an athlete from their respective sport to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee(SAAC). At the next monthly meeting, the SAAC representatives will vote for one male and one female athlete of the month. The athlete of the month will be an individual who had great performances and/or success in their respective sport for that month.
Stasia Raebel – JR – Softball
Raebel had seven wins and in 60 innings with 40 strikeouts, earning a 1.87 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. She beat ranked teams from New Berlin West, Germantown and won all three games at the Cedarburg Bulldog Tournament, which earned the team the overall tournament crown.
Chase Roberts – JR – Track & Field
Roberts started the month off at the Greater Metro Conference Relays taking fourth with team mates in the 4x200m relay and third in the 4x400m relay. Next up at the top meet at Arrowhead he took first place in the 400m dash in a time of 49.66. At the last regular season meet at Hale, earned first in the 200m dash in 23.29. Regional meet was next on May 20 at home Hart Park, he earned first place in both the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay. At sectionals a few days later, Roberts repeated the same performances as at regionals, to qualify for state meet at UW-Lacrosse. Last day of the month was the preliminary run for the 400m dash, where he achieved the school record in a time of 48.73 and advanced to the finals on Saturday. And then to finish the season out on June 1, Roberts won the Division I State Championship in the 400m dash.
