The Red Raiders scored 152.5 points to win the Richmond/Erickson Invitational and defend their 2017 team title.
The Red Raiders had two 4x100m relay teams run under 43 seconds and finished 1-2 (however the second team was exhibition and did not count in the team score). We ran two evenly matched teams that finished 42.93 (Chase Roberts, Scott Henry, Jacarri Oldham, Lewis Huenink) and 42.97 (Matt Kubicek, Donavan Hunt, Cole Tate, Cyrus Taylor). Both times rank in the top 5 in school history and would be top 5 on the state honor roll.
As impressive as those two performances were, the 4x400m relay team of Max Radcliffe, Chase Roberts, Adam Schell, and Nile Bridges found a way to top it by running 3:22.42 to narrowly beat Franklin’s 3:22.65 for the win. Both times currently rank 1-2 in the state. It is fitting that the 4×400 would be the event to highlight the meet since Coach John Richmond, who the meet is named after, built his program around the 4×4 when he coached at Tosa East. Even more fitting is that the Franklin coach, John Troy was coached by and had the privilege to coach with Richmond.
The 4x800m relay team of Jordan Ferber (2:10.0 PR), Ben Tarrence (2:12), Dan Eash-Scott (2:18.7 PR), and Max Finco (2:07.5) won in 8:49.26, Lewis Huenink won the 200m dash (22.70), Michael Pridgeon won the shot put (49-2) and placed 7th in the discus (116-10), Cole Tate won the high jump (5-10), Elijah Brittingham placed 2nd (5-10), Donavan Hunt won the 100m dash (11.28), Chase Roberts placed 2nd (11.60), and Jacarri Oldham ran exhibition but had the second fastest time of the day (11.54). Nate Blischke placed 2nd in the 1600m run (4:43.30 PR), Grant Heus placed 2nd in the 3200m run (10:34.11 PR), Aaron Van Meter placed 3rd in the 1000m run (2:44.67), Nile Bridges placed 3rd in the 600m run (1:23.66)
Max Radcliffe placed 4th (1:23.83), Max Finco placed 4th in the 800m run (2:01.05), Jalen Holley placed 4th in the 110m high hurdles (15.88) and 5th in the 300m intermediate hurdles (42.55), Jaxon Holley placed 4th in the triple jump (39-02), Matt Kubicek finished 5th in the 110m high hurdles (15.91), Donavan Hunt tied for 6th in the long jump (19-09), Ezra Eccles placed 7th in the 3200m run (11:04.68)
The Red Raiders will compete next at the Greater Metro Conference Varsity Outdoor Championship Meet on Tuesday, May 15 at Wauwatosa West High School. Field Events begin at 2:30 and running starts at 3:30.
