The Girls Track and Field team competed at home for the first time this season at the Richmond – Erickson Invite. With the sun shining and the temperature above 75 some good performances were bound to happen. And they did! The ladies placed 5th out of 12 teams, with many of the athletes doing some unfamiliar events. The 600m and the 1000m were added to this meet to add a different dimension to the athletes that normally run anywhere’s from the 400m to the 1600m.

Abby Wood took right to it placing 2nd in the 600m! She ran Tosa East’s 2nd fastest time in the event with a time of 1:40.30! Sophomore Olivia Bowser also ran a great time of 1:52.02, placing her 7th on the all time list.

Also placing in Tosa East’s top 10 was Sydney Evans in the 1000m. Her time of 3:26.49 places her 5th all time and missed 2nd place in the race by less than half a second.

Earning a medal for placing in the top 3, the 4x800m relay team consisting of Senior Yvette Danisewicz, Junior Eden Gissibl, Sophomore Mara Zydek, and Sophomore Aydan Peterson ran very well. Danieswicz, Zydek and Peterson all PR’ed in the race!

Freshman Ela Nunez PR’ed in the 100m hurdles running a time of 18.20 seconds! That time places her 10th all time at Tosa East.

Jetta Mays ran well in the 100m dash. She placed 2nd with a time of 12.66 seconds.

Elsa Klein won the 1600m with a time of 5 minutes 33 seconds, her best ever! She just missed Tosa East’s top 10 list by less than a second.

Following Elsa’s win the 4x200m relay took first as well. Lead off by Freshman Maia Mays, then to Junior Brooklyn Blackburn, Senior Melina Paul ran third, then to our anchor Jetta Mays. The ladies won the event with a time of 1:45.15 which lands them 3rd on the all time list!

In the 400m, Senior Hannah Brooks and Sophomore Chandler Yow ran their best times as well. This meet seems like a broken record, in a good way! Brooks took 2nd over all with a time of 61.8 seconds. Yow ran a very solid time of 66.7 seconds, with it being her first open 400m this season!

Next up to break some records was the 4x100m team. The relay team consisting of Trinity Mayes, Neshae Morries-Thurman, Addison Devine, and Jetta Mays broke the School Record!
Running a time of 50.49 seconds, they beat the old school record of 50.54 seconds, by half a hundredth.

In the 300 hurdles Freshmen girls Justine Catlett and Sadie Michaelis PR’ed! Off the track Kennedy Carthen PR’ed in the discus, throwing 81 feet 1 inch. Raven Moore placed 5th in the shot put with a distance 33 feet 5 inches, which is her best throw outdoors. And Alex Evans not only PR’ed in the triple jump with 31 feet 4 inch jump but she also is now 10th on our all time list! Lastly off the track, Sophomore Emily Zimmer PR’ed in the pole vault, reaching a height of 7 feet even.

In the 200m dash Addison Devine had her best time of her career, sprinting to a 27.76 seconds. Hannah Brooks was right behind her at 27.82 with her best time. Melina Paul ran her best time of her career with a 28.08.

With many personal best performances the ladies are looking strong going into the final 3 weeks of the season. For complete results of the Richmond Erickson Invite please visit the following web link:
